The wonderful world of widgets wuhoo!
I had a fantastic time this weekend playing with this new widget. Well at least new to me.
GTKSourceView provides my program with the ability to have text highlighting in my documents. With pystart all about programming it seemed like the perfect solution.
With little coding I did while waiting for the bus to arrive with my wife, I coded up the widget into my gui. I like it.
I could have never figured it out without my mentor. He did a great job of investigating and letting me be a part of it. We were talking through skype; sad I know but ekiga isn’t working very well.
So in my opinion I learned a lot this weeked. Integrating widgets, working with classes and how to properly play with variables. Thanks pete.
The looking activities building in town has taking interest in my teaching ability and I will be teaching linux, if people sign up, at the local activity center. Very exciting as I have never been paid to do something I am so passionate about. If we get a full class, I have every intent on giving some of the money to a project in the OSS community. Perhaps Ubuntu, perhaps even Canonical should get a cut. We shall see.
