Linux Course coming along well… Converting a string to a Dictionary…

The linux course I have setup at my local church has been doing very good.  Today we had a course on the basics and potentual of the command line interface.  Talk about an excited bunch.  We learned all the basics, cd, rm, mkdir, less and most importantly man.  We even went into how to use the command line to do very special things like, whatching movies from the text or, for the heck of it, seeing my baby’s first crawling in asci art.  OHHH yeah!  Talk about cool!  They are very excited to learn that their competer that can only run text based linux has some great life in it left.  All in the console.  Next week, we learn some more CLI stuff and move into Kino the video editor.  Hope to post our video we make in class online.

In my GSoC work I had learned a spiffy feature, I needed to convert a string into a dictionary.  Pete was able to work it out, after my many failed attempts

dictExtraInfo what the text that needed to be converted.  If you didn’t figure that out yet.   Dang spiffy.  Thanks pete.

3 Kid’s in under 2 months… wow…

Just got the announcement about my brother having his 2nd child. How very exciting. That makes Joey and Marnee with #1 Me and Katri with #2 and Jeremy and Christa #3. All in 2 months. Amazing!

Little Jaden is doing well…

very active and loves to smile. At 6 weeks she is very responsive and has the greatest personality, just like her mother’s! School is out now so time is now given to caring for the little one and figuring out how this little machine works. Rather fun, and a great experience for me and the wife.

Today I installed my old favorite game RollerCoaster Tycoon. I got it back when I was still using windows. Like… 2000. With me moving to linux I have neglected it. With a quick install of wine I was able to install it and run it perfectly. Wine is doing a great job. Keep up the good work there guys and gals!

Got pictures from my brother of the baby. Dang, MSN can be annoying…
He has posted the pictures there and to download the image you to select the image you want to download. Notice I said image? Those where radio buttons! I could select one image to download, then click select, then click download, THEN click save. That was annoying for sure…. you get really spoiled with Linux and Google. None the less I have them.

And how am I worthy of this!?

What a wonderful blessing it is to have our newest addition.  No name yet, as it is tradition in finland to wait.  But she was born at 8:34pm April 6th.  Everything is well with her and the mother.  She is very pretty, and was born eyes wide open and hardly even a cry.

Not much I could say, it is something that everyone should have the chance to experience.  My wife and I are so bless and honored that God has let us take on this responsibility with Him.

Thank you, everyone, for your help and support threw the pregnancy and birth.  We needed everything you gave.

I have pictures on my little server.  If it is running it should be at… http://84.250.111.119  Has pictures, videos, and for a while, a live babycam.  Eventually the babycam will be locked down.  As soon as I can figure it out.
